The quality of Chinese glazed tiles mainly depends on their appearance, sound, glaze cracking, and water absorption rate.
1. Look at the appearance
The appearance of Chinese glazed tiles mainly depends on the consistency of glaze color, flatness, surface gloss, smoothness, degree of sintering on the back, brand name, etc.
2. Listening to sound
The method can be achieved by listening to the sound of tapping on Chinese style glazed tiles. The clearer the sound of tapping on the glazed tiles, the better.
3. Look at glaze cracking
Cracking glaze on Chinese style glazed tiles is a common phenomenon. If cracks appear on the tiles, the glaze layer of the glazed tiles will peel off after being frozen in winter, causing them to lose their luster and waterproof performance. The inspection method is to check for cracks on the surface of the tile that are as thin as spider silk. Especially after being exposed to rain or soaking in water and sticking to dust, it will become more noticeable.
4. Check the water absorption rate
Chinese glazed tiles should absorb as little water as possible. The more water absorption, the poorer the frost resistance of the tile. The method of inspection is to compare the weight difference between dry tiles and soaked tiles, which is the moisture content. According to the Chinese national standard, the water absorption rate is ≤ 12.0%.
