Shouzhuo Garden

Tao Yuanming's former residence • Shouzhuo Garden Scenic Area is located in Tao village, Yixian County, which is known as the “shiwaitaoyuan”. It was invested and developed by Huangshan City Shouzhuo Cultural Tourism Development Co., Ltd. and started construction in April 2013. It is Located at the site of Chiling Village (Tao Village), a descendant of Tao Yuanming, who is located 6 kilometers away from the Yixian County. It was rebuilt into the “Shouzhuo Park Scenic Area” with the characteristics of Huizhou architecture which is white wall and grey roof tiles. Tao Village is Tao Qi's descendants Tao Geng fourth home. Tao Qi is the second son of the famous poet Tao Yuanming of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The village still retains a large number of historical monuments and cultural sites, such as the complete “Dong's Genealogy,” the Tao’s Grave, Tao’s pond, Taoling ancient plank road, and the Tao’s ancestral hall.

One of the most important elements of “Shouzhuo Garden” is “zhuo”, saying: Simple, loyalty, kind and honest. The meaning of Shouzhuo is insisting on oneself ignorant nature. One who with a mindset that does not mix with the secular world and strive for fame and fortune in the real life of materialistic desires, and chooses to hide and hide. The artistic conception of “Shouzhuo Garden” is to embody Tao Gong’s “Zhuo” ideology and the “Zhuo” life style, as well as the ideal of pursuing a free life.  It reproduce the life scenes of "Shouzhuo returning to the garden field" in the poem "Return to the Garden".

The Shouzhuo Garden Scenic area restored Tao Yuanming's former residence, Shuikou Garden, parking lot, tourism reception, famous celebrities and their saying, Dow origin cultural exhibition hall, and other facilities. Today, Shouzhuo Garden, Wenchang Pavilion, “the heart is far from self-biased,” the ancient plaque, and the Taohuayuanji large scale stone Inscriptions, Guiyuan Tianju’s Inscriptions on Stones, and the Taohuayuan Cultural Museum, the Residence Pavilion, the Tao’s Ancestral Hall, Wuliutang, Juxiantang, and Taogong Pavilion were initially completed, reproducing the scenes of production and life in “Taoyuanyuan” written by Tao Yuanming. Reflect the profound connotation of Taohuayuan Culture.
