White Deer Cave Academy

Bailudong Academy is located in the south of Lushan Nanlu Wulaofeng Mountain, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. It is a cultural landscape of the world. It enjoys the reputation of “the First Academy in China” and was named “the first of four major Chinese academies”. The White Deer Academy building is grey roof tiles and whitewashed walls. It has neither the official style of architecture, but also nor national building piled up and artificial vulgar. It gives people a natural and elegant feeling.

Founded in the year of the Tang Dynasty (AD 940), it was the first complete academy in China; when it was established in Southern Tang Dynasty, it was established as a "Lushan Guoxue" (also known as "Bailu Guoxue"), and was the only Chinese government academy which located out of the capital in the history. When scienceologist Zhu Xi Serve Zhinan Kang Jun(Today, Shaoshan City, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province) in Song Dynasty. He reconstructed his academy and gave lectures in person to determine the rules and objectives of the academy's education. And apply the emperor to give the plaque and the imperial book. The reputation has become an important cultural cradle in China for hundreds of years from the late Song Dynasty to the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. It is one of the most important birthplaces of Chinese education and culture.

White Deer Cave Academy, Yuelu Academy in Changsha Hunan, Yingtian College in Shangqiu Henan and Songyang College in Dengfeng Henan are collectively referred to as "the four major Chinese academies". Afterwards, it was with the Bailuzhou College in Ji’an, Jiangxi, the Gehu Academy in the Qianshan of Jiangxi Province, and the Yuzhang Academy in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. It was also called “the four major academies in Jiangxi”.
