Traditional Chinese Architecture - Pavilion

The pavilion is a traditional Chinese building which usually be built in gardens, Buddhist temples, and temples. It is a building that be used for people to shade, rest, shelter from the rain. They generally located by the roadside or in gardens. The construction area is small. And mostly only have top no wall.

According to different materials. The pavilions can be divided into wooden pavilions, stone pavilions, brick pavilions, thatch pavilions, bamboo pavilions, copper pavilions and etc. Pavilions have different styles constructed from different materials . Therefore, the pavilion's plastic arts also depend to the chosen materials. Due to the differences in the properties of various materials, pavilions constructed from different materials have very distinctive characteristics. For example, There are two main style wooden pavilions. One is wooden frame and glazed tile roofs. Another is wooden framed and grey clay roof tiles. The former is used for the religious architecture of the royal architecture and the altar. It is full of splendour and rich colors. The latter is representative form of Chinese classical pavilions, or simple and solemn, or elegant and elegant. They are built all over the country.

The garden pavilion has a small body and rigorous layout. Starting from the point-shaped umbrella pavilion, triangles, squares, rectangles, hexagons, octagonal and even circular, crabapple-shaped, fan-shaped, from the simple to complex, are basically regular geometric shapes, or combined deformation. According to this principle, other shapes can be conceived, or they can be combined with other landscape architectures such as flower stands, promenades, and rivers to form a group of buildings.
