Old Lotus Pond

Old Lotus Pond is one garden, it is located in the center of Baoding city. It is built in 1227, and it has 800-year history. It is one of China Ten Gardens. It was the residence of famous military leader Zhang Rou in Jin Dynasty.

Old Lotus Pond is named for its pond full of lotus. In the summer, the lotus in the pond is blooming, the scenery is really gorgeous. Old Lotus Pond area is 24000 square meters, while the pond water covers 7900 square meters. The pond is divided into two parts, south and north ponds. South pond has the shape of semi-crescent, while north pond has irregular shape. There are stone, willow and cypress around the pond, the landscape is very smart.

There are many old Chinese buildings in Old Lotus Pond, like Paifang, which is at the behind of the gate of Old Lotus Pond. And there are gazebos, halls, and pavilions around the ponds. These buildings have the wood structure and the roofs are installed with clay Chinese roof tiles. In the summer, visitors can seat in each of these buildings to enjoy the blooming lotus.
