KANGBAI-WANS Manor

The manor, another name Kang family, is located Kangdian town, Gongyi city. It was built in

late Ming and early Qing dynasties. It is the representative of the architectures of the fortifications

of north China in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Kang family about twelve generations lived in the manor., spanning the three periods of Ming dynasty,

Qing dynasty and the republic of China, over 400 years. The manor extended to the mountain top.

It is one of the famous three manors. The Qiao's Family Compound in Shanxi and Ma family manor

in Anyang and the Kang Manor ,they are the models of ancient architectures in central of China.

In the manor there are the buildings on the street , cave dwelling near the cliff , wall fence around ,

wharf along the river, which is a collection of farmers, officials and businessmen.

The total building area is 64300 square meters .There are 33 courtyards , 53 buildings ,more

than 1300 rooms and 73 cave dwelling. There are 10 parts including main housing , south courtyard, a

ncestral temple, workshop , vegetable garden , flower garden and storehouse . But in so big building

group there is only one entry. It’s difficult to find the exit for a strange man.

The courtyard building of Kang manor is a typical two-in-one courtyard in western Henan province,

with the characteristics of garden and government.All kinds of brick carving, wood carving and stone

carving are elegant and graceful.
