Wangcheng Park

Wangcheng park is located in Xigong district, Luoyang city, which was the capital of 13 daynasties.

It was built on the site of East Zhou dynasty capital and so called Wangcheng park.

It takes about 720000 square meters, including ancient culture area , peony nursery, zoo and

amusement park .It is the first relics park and also the largest comprehensive park in Henan province.

There are three gates .South gate is the main gate. Others are west and north gates. At the

entrance of south gate ,it is the statue of peony fairy ,about 7 meters high.

Chenxiang tower is one of the main scenery. It covers about 800 square meters. There are

three floors , 42 wooden pillars to support. The total height is 22 meters,which is also the

highest and most beautiful antique building.

 The Shaoyue tower the main structure of the Western zhou cultural district of Wangcheng park.

It was built based on the Zhou style .In the bottom of three walls there are the sculpture black lines

which describe about 30 historical events happened in Luoyang. The whole building is magnificent

with Qin and Han charm. It is one of the classic sights of Wangcheng park.

There are many peony nurserys with more than 840 varieties in the park. The famous colors

are yellow, wei purple ,red ,pink and white. Black and green are rare. In 1982 the city government

confirmed the peony as the cityflower. In April at the same year the first peony festival was held

and continue today.
