Traditional Chinese Style House

Roof tiled house is traditional Chinese residential building. This style house is named for

using tiles covering. It occupied an important position and was popular all over China.

In north of Chine they were most are grey roof tiles and grey brick wall or red roof tiles and

red brick wall in country. Whatever they all can make people feel the beauty of elegant, simple

and quiet.

In north the roof slope is gentle, not more than 45 degree. But in south there are a lot of rain .

So the slope is more steep.

On the house roof ridge generally the craftsman will design the different shape beast ,fish ,

flowers figurines to decorate .They are not beautiful and have implied meaning ,which have

Chinese traditional culture.

Traditional Chinese style house appeared very early . Initially it appeared in temple and palace

architectures with the valuable glazed tiles .Till Yuan dynasty, it developed to folk to use the

clay tiles for roof covering .It was very popular in Ming and Qing dynasties.

But now more and more old house buildings disappear in the cities. We only can find the beauty

in our reminiscences.
