Ping Yao Ancient City

Ancient city of Ping Yao is located in the center of Ping Yao County, Shanxi Province. It is built in BC 827 to BC 782.

Ancient city of Ping Yao is one of the Four Best Preserved Ancient Cities. And it is one of ancient cities which succeeded in biding for the world heritage site as the whole city.

Ping Yao has many ancient buildings which has very long history, like Ping Yao County, Risheng Banks, Temple of Confucius, Qingxu Guan, Ping Yao City Wall, etc.

Ping Yao County Government is located in the center of Ping Yao. It is built in 1346 and has over 600 years history. Risheng Bank is the first bank in China. It is founded in 1823. Temple of Confucius is the place of worship of Confucius. Qingxu Guan is the biggest Taoist temple in the ancient city. Pingyao City Wall is built in BC 827 to BC 782, its function is defending against enemy.

There are many old folk-houses which row in the rules with old Chinese roof tiles. These folk house have beautiful gardens, exquisite wood carving and brick carving, and Chinese paper cutting, which reflect Han nationality history culture from 14 century to 19 century.
