The Colors of Ancient Chinese Architecture

     In ancient Chinese architecture, there were often exquisitely colored glass, whether used as tiles on the roof or decorative objects, which made the building colorful and vibrant.

     The manufacturing process of glaze dates back a long time in ancient China. Initially, the materials used to make glaze were obtained from by-products produced during the casting of bronze ware, refined and processed, and then made into glaze. The colors of glaze are diverse, and ancient people also called it "Five Colored Stone". In ancient times, due to the difficulty of obtaining it among the people, people regarded glaze as even more precious than jade.

     The production of glazed bricks and tiles is divided into two steps. One tire, two glaze hanging. After the ceramic body is made, it is placed in the kiln for roasting. Then, glaze is hung on the fired ceramic body, and it is placed in the color kiln for a second roasting.

     Nowadays, the firing technique of glazed tiles has been selected for the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list approved by the State Council and the Ministry of Culture. The technology of glazed tiles has become increasingly mature, and after generations of development, a series of products with rich varieties, exquisite shapes, and strong assembly have been formed. The Western style glazed tiles, which evolved from traditional glazed tiles, were first applied in some European countries such as Japan, Spain, and Italy. It combines tube tiles The combination of board and tile design has a reasonable structure, simple hanging, large effective coverage area, and low roof load-bearing capacity. There are over a hundred types of glaze colors, and at the same time, it does not have the phenomenon of lead glazed tiles and glazed surfaces being affected by anti lead, which affects the decorative effect. Therefore, Western style tiles and glazed tiles are increasingly being widely used in modern architecture.
