Appreciation of Chinese Architectural Aesthetics

From a patch of bricks and tiles to a ten mile tower, Chinese people's thinking about the beauty of living is beyond imagination.

There are Temple of Heaven layers of contraction, making people feel like they can touch the sky. There is a royal and orderly Forbidden City. Down, the soil accumulates in all directions and is as stable as a rock. Up, the sky flies like a flying horse. Observing ancient Chinese architecture is like reading a book of history that has been passed down in an orderly manner. The unique rhythm of Chinese aesthetics has come from China.

Chinese ancient architecture is mainly composed of wooden structures, which can be roughly divided into three parts: the roof, the body, and the pedestal. They can be divided into three parts or independently become the architectural style. For example, our Temple of Heaven is a manifestation of the pedestal as a landmark building.

When the emperor is offering sacrifices, they need to step up 9 steps in each layer, totaling 3 layers, to reach the Heavenly Palace Temple. The sky is like a dome, with a solid foundation at its feet. When people are between heaven and earth, they instantly feel a sense of divine unity between heaven and humanity. Compared to Western architecture's pursuit of physical height, the peak of Chinese architecture lies not in its height, but in its foundation.
The lifting beam style is the most representative body structure in ancient Chinese architecture, especially for high-level buildings such as palaces. This structure is mainly composed of beam frames, with the bottom column foundation supporting the roof and not supported by walls, which can prevent the house from collapsing.

Among them, arch of wooden architecture is an important feature of Chinese ancient buildings. It is a form of wood structures that can be combined only by opening and biting each other, that is, mortise and tenon.

Arch of wooden architecture forms a row of continuously spaced combinations between the beam column and the roof, and closely combines the lower column and the upper beam like a wooden lock, so that the whole roof and the whole structure will be quite stable. Arch of wooden architecture can change a lot. It not only has unique practicability, but also can combine various shapes to meet the different visual pursuits of the whole building appearance and internal space, which has both scientific and artistic aesthetics.
