Chinese Gardens in Germany

In 1985, Guangzhou, China, and Frankfurt, Germany established a friendly city. The Chinese side generously presented Frankfurt with a garden called "Chunhua Garden", which was created by Chinese craftsmen. In May of the same year, the Director of the Frankfurt Horticultural Construction Bureau led a team to China. When they saw our Xin'an Stele Garden and Duojing Garden in China, they were immediately amazed and decided: "Give us such a garden!

Two years later, Cheng Jiyue, a leading figure in the field of Chinese ancient architecture, visited the Bidermann Park in Frankfurt on site. The idea of Frankfurt is to add this Chinese garden in Bidman Park. You should know that Bidman Park is a famous Rococo style garden in Germany. Napoleon and Goethe both like it very much. After on-site investigation, Cheng quickly came up with a complete set of Huizhou style garden design plans and named them "Chunhua Garden".

In March 1988, the construction of Chunhua Garden was officially carried out in China, taking one year to complete all the engineering components. After acceptance, these 420 tons of components drifted across the sea from Shanghai to Frankfurt, Germany. China also dispatched a construction team of several people to Frankfurt to carry out the overall installation of the components. It was not until September 1989 that the Chunhua Garden was officially completed in Frankfurt. When the Chunhua Garden was completed, the German Parliament Building specially raised the Chinese flag, praising the Oriental classical garden for bringing them a permanent spring.

The Chunhua Garden covers an area of 4400 square meters, integrating brick carving and stone carving. The garden features pavilions, bridges, corridors, stones, windows, waterfalls, memorial archway, etc. The inscriptions in the park have also been inscribed by Chinese celebrities from all walks of life. This garden was also unlucky. In June 2017, it was severely burned down due to human arson. China sent personnel to repair it again, which took two years before reopening on October 25, 2019.
