Chinese Ancient Architecture -The Beautiful Courtyard

In China, there is a type of building with spacious courtyards, houses on all sides, connected corridors, and convenient living conditions.     It has strong privacy and comes from heaven and earth when closed. In the courtyard, all four doors open towards the courtyard, and the whole family is on a blind date with beauty, enjoying a harmonious atmosphere; In the spacious courtyard, trees and flowers can be planted, birds and fish can be raised, and stones can be stacked to create scenery, allowing residents to fully enjoy the beauty of nature.

Since the Yuan Dynasty in China, whether it is princes, ministers, wealthy merchants, literati, or ordinary people, they have lived in either large or small quadrangles.

Architecture is the business card of traditional culture, preserving traces of the passage of history, and is an excellent carrier for contemplating people's past lives. Due to the vast differences in climate and geography, there are various types of buildings in northern China, but among them, the most impressive, inhabited, and culturally rich courtyard houses have to be mentioned.

Among the four courtyard houses in China, Beijing is the most famous, which is closely related to the fact that Beijing has been designated as its capital the most frequently in history. Perhaps you don't know that the largest, most majestic, and majestic quadrangle is the Forbidden City. Shrinking the Forbidden City by 1000 or 10000 times is a quadrangle, but the Grand Palace Museum is more detailed and accommodating.

Due to the influence of Confucianism, Buddhism, and other ideologies, most of Beijing's quadrangles are located along east-west alleys, facing north and south, with the main entrance located at the "Xun" position in the southeast corner of the courtyard. The quadrangles where ordinary people live are arranged consecutively, without wasting a square meter of land. The courtyards, hanging doors, bridges, corridors, and wing rooms in the quadrangles are arranged in rows, each with its own place.

According to the differences in scale, there are three types of quadrangles: large quadrangles, medium quadrangles, and small quadrangles: small and medium-sized quadrangles are warm residences for ordinary people in cloth clothing; The Big Four Courtyards are enjoyed by wealthy nobles, and this "Big House Gate" is formed by connecting multiple quadrangles. There are many courtyards: front courtyard, back courtyard, study courtyard, one entrance, two entrances, three entrances, etc.
