Chaotian Palace is a typical building of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Its architectural pattern, style and construction technology are important and rare material materials for the study of ancient Chinese architecture, especially the architecture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It has high historical, artistic and scientific value.

Chaotian Palace is a group of Ming and Qing ancient buildings with the largest scale, the highest architectural level and the most complete preservation among the existing ancient architectural groups in the South of the Yangtze River. It is located at the south foot of Mount Ye on the east side of Mochou Road in Shuiximen, Nanjing. In front of the ancient canal, is today known as the Qinhuai River, back to the Ye Mountain, flying pavilion heavy buildings, green trees set off, known as "Jinling No.1 scenic spot" reputation.

Chaotiangong ancient building group consists of temples, mansions in the east and ancestral halls in the west, covering an area of about 70,000 square meters. There is a wall at the south end, connecting the east and the west with the palace wall. On the front of the wall, there are four bricks engraved with Chinese characters: "Wan Ren Palace Wall", whose words are from the Analects of Confucius, extolling the moral high of Confucius' writings.

Although the building itself is fairly intact, it has gone through many twists and turns over the centuries. In the Ming Dynasty, it was just a simple learning place. The princes and princesses would be sent here when they had to learn the relevant etiquette at each age. Of course, it was later transformed into temples and Taoist temples, etc., but no matter how the external environment changed, the complex always maintained its style and magnificence.

Chaotian Palace, as the first of the "Fourty-eight scenes of Jinling", has numerous cultural relics and a long history, and has the reputation of "A Chaotian Palace, half the history of the southern capital". Li Bai, Liu Yuxi, Su Shi, Wang Anshi and others have left their classic works here. It is the best place for visitors from home and abroad to understand the history and culture of Nanjing.
