Architectural characteristics of folk houses in North and South China

The sun can shine into the room in winter, and the main room is warm in winter and cool in summer. The courtyard is a place for outdoor activities.

    There are obvious differences between the north and south dwellings in China. It is the difference that roofing uses makings above all. The southern dwellings all use the roof with a larger slope and are paved with small green tiles, while the northern dwellings use flat roof or slightly flat slope roof.
