The largest and most complete group of ancient buildings in Henan, China

    Zhongyue Temple, as one of the heritage sites of historical buildings in the world cultural heritage world, is the crown of Zhongzhou ancestral temples, and is also the largest and most complete ancient building group in Henan Province of China.

                                 

    Zhongyue Temple was built in the Qin Dynasty and destroyed by fire in the Ming Dynasty (1644). The existing temples were rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. Zhongyue Temple has weathered the vicissitudes of the world for more than 2000 years. After many generations of unremitting construction, it has been well preserved to this day. Zhongyue Temple later became the site of Taoist activities, but still retains the characteristics of ritual architecture. 

                                  

    Zhongyue Temple is backed by Huanggai Peak and faced by Yucan Mountain, surrounded by mountains. Its layout is cautious and its scale is magnificent, with red walls and yellow tiles, and it is resplendent. The total area is nearly 130,000 square meters, and the central axis is 650 meters long. Temple in the main building from south to north, from low to high to arrange. Temple hall, palace, floor, pavilion and other buildings 39 nearly 400.

    Zhongyue Temple is the largest Taoist architectural complex in Henan Province and one of the key Taoist temples in China. On June 25, 2001, zhongyue Temple, as an ancient building of the Qing Dynasty, was approved by The State Council to be listed in the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
