Jiadi Lane - the essence of Chaozhou ancient dwellings

Jiadi Lane is the essence of ancient dwellings in Chaozhou city. It is the place where officials, merchants and families of ancient Chaozhou city live together. The street and lane pattern of Ming and Qing Dynasties and ancient dwellings are still preserved.From the air, jia Di Lane, less than 200 meters long, concentrated more than 10 large and small houses of Ming and Qing Dynasties.During the Ming and Qing dynasties, many rich businessmen of Chaozhou prefecture came here to build houses and gardens and multiply.

    The architecture, culture, art and folk customs here accumulate the infinite elegance of the ancient city in a rich commercial atmosphere. The residential buildings here are concentrated, and the mansions of famous figures in chaozhou ancient City in Ming and Qing Dynasties are here.  There are poems and murals carved in the gate, the door is opposite to the wall, and the wood carvings on the roof beams are magnificent and resplendent.

    The road paved with green slate, the old house covered by fish scale tiles, and the "gatehouse belly" carved by exquisite workmanship, seem to bring us into another time and space. At the end of the lane is a house with a "Banwen" door and a small garden called "Banyuan" inside. Although the area of the garden is not large, it is exquisitely constructed and well-proportioned. Lane also had eight horizontal lanes, and the courtyard in the horizontal lane was no less impressive than that in the main lane.

    These streets and courtyards are a treasure house for studying ancient Chaozhou society, architecture and folk customs.In the Ming and Qing dynasties, jiadi Lane was surrounded by celebrities and mansions, which can be said to be an epitome of the layout characteristics, architectural features and decorative techniques of Chaozhou residential houses, and is an important basis for studying the history, culture and technology of Chaozhou in a certain period.
