Shaan Gan Club in Kaifeng

Located on the north side of Xufu Street, Longting District, Kaifeng City, Henan Province, Shan Shaan Gan Club was built in the 41st year of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1776). It was built by wealthy businessmen living in Kaifeng, Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces on the house site of the founding fathers Wang Xu Da. It is a place for merchants from Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces in the Qing Dynasty to conduct business, trade, and connect with fellow villagers. It has a history of more than 200 years.

Shan Shaan Gan Guild Hall faces south, 88.44 meters long from north to south, 42 meters wide from east to west, covering an area of 3,870.29 square meters. The guild hall is a courtyard-style layout with an area of 3,870.29 square meters. The main building is placed on the central axis. From south to north, they are Zhaobi, theater, archway, and main hall. The outbuildings are located on the east and west sides.

Zhaobi faces the street and is located at the southernmost end of the central axis of the hall building. On both sides of Zhaobi are left and right gates, which are staggered with Zhaobi, forming a "mountain"-shaped whole. After passing the gate, there is an ancient theater building on the front, three rooms wide, divided into two parts, the front desk and the back part. The front desk is a "music bed" for formal performances; the backstage is a "theatre room" dedicated to make up for actors. On both sides of the theater building are the bell and drum towers facing east and west, and there is an archway to the north across the theater building, which was built to praise Guan Yu's sentiment and morals. On both sides of the archway are the east and west side halls, both with gabbled roof with Chinese roof tiles and high relief flower ridges. The north of the archway is the main hall, which is the main building of the guild hall and consists of three halls. The front is the worship hall, which is three rooms wide, the middle is the rolling shed, and the back is the main hall, all five rooms wide. The three halls are connected by a gutter to form a whole, with a total area of 540 square meters.
