Mochou Lake Garden

Mochou Lake is located in Jianye District, Nanjing. It is a famous garden in the south of the Yangtze River with a long history of 1500 years and rich human resources. Mochou Lake became famous in the Song and Yuan dynasties, and even more prosperous after the Ming dynasty became the capital of Nanjing. It has the reputation of "the first lake in the south of the Yangtze River" and "the first of the forty-eight scenic spots in Jinling".

In the early Ming Dynasty, the Mochou Lake underwent large-scale development and construction, and more than ten towers were built along the lake, which was very lively for a while. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the Mid-Lake Pavilion was built in the garden. It was opened as a park in 1929 and later built the "Guangdong Army Martyrs Tomb". After the liberation, the original buildings on the banks of Mochou Lake were renovated, and the tourist garden was expanded. Facilities such as promenades, water pavilions, lake pavilions, and open-air stages were added. Flowers and trees were planted in the garden.

Huayan Temple is located directly north of the gate of the park. The gate of the park was made of pine wood in 1959 and rebuilt in 1964. It is classical, mixed structure, 7.1 meters high, 11 meters wide, 40 square meters building area, small roof tiles and large roof, middle door eaves 4.5 meters high and 5 meters wide; doors on both sides. The eaves are 3.7 meters high and 2.8 meters wide, and 4 gate posts are supported by stone drums. There is a Suzhou Granite Road in the gate, 10 meters wide and 70 meters long, reaching the Crescent Lake. There are tree and stone bonsai in the pool and flower beds around the pool. The courtyard is equipped with rockery with lakes and rocks, green pine and verdant bamboos. It is beautiful and elegant, especially the century-old wisteria in the northeast corner. The old stems are also flourishing with flowers and leaves, which are both ancient and vigorous and flourishing, which is really rare.
