Qingchuan Pavilion

Qingchuan Pavilion is located in Qingchuan Street, Hanyang District, Wuhan City, China. Qingchuan Pavilion and Wuchang Yellow Crane Tower face each other across the river, the pavilions face each other, set off against each other, is magnificent, is the only place of interest in Wuhan area standing by the river.

Qingchuan Pavilion was built by Fan Zhizhen, a governor of Hanyang in the Ming Dynasty from 26 to 28 years after the Jiajing Emperor's reign, in order to record the virtues of King Yu Tamed the Flood. Its name comes from a poem written by Cui Hao, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty. Since its establishment, the pavilion has undergone several ups and downs. In the more than 400 years since the Jiajing Emperor's reign, it has undergone five major maintenance additions and two reconstructions.

Although the history of Qingchuan Pavilion is not as long as the Yellow Crane Tower and Yueyang Tower, it has won an important historical position due to its unique geographical environment, unique and beautiful shape, and praises from many literati and celebrities.

Yu King Palace, the original name of Dayu Temple is one of the few representatives in Qing Dynasty wooden buildings in Wuhan. The renovated Yu King Palace covers an area of 380 square meters, and consists of the main hall, the front hall, the left and right corridors, and the patio. The front elevation is a brick arch wall (four pillars, three floors and three doors), and the other three sides are blue brick half-built wind walls. Main hall is hard hill roof, the roof is covered with clay grey tiles, and the eaves and ridges are decorated with eaves tiles, drip tiles, hip ridge, sitting beasts etc.

Qingchuan Pavilion was officially opened to the public on October 1st, 1986. In 1992, Qingchuan Pavilion was announced as a provincial cultural relics protection unit by the Hubei Provincial Government. In 1995, it was named Wuhan Patriotic Education Base. In 1999, it was awarded the "Top Ten Cultural and Educational Organizations in Hubei Province". In 2002, it was rated as "AAA-level scenic spot" by the National Tourism Administration.
