Chinese Gable Roof

Chinese gable roof is one of the Chinese traditional architecture roofs. The gable walls of both sides will be on the same level or a little higher than the roof. The walls which are higher than the roof called Prevent Fire Walls. Their main function is to prevent the fire to spread by the roof when the fire occurs.

Chinese gable roof has its own shape style, it is widely used on Chinese traditional residence houses. The roof often is installed with Chinese grey roof tiles and the matched roof ornaments. The houses in North China use flat tiles and pan tiles on the main roof, while the ones in South China only use flat tiles on the roof.

Meanwhile, people like to use the roof ornaments with dragon pattern on the roof, which stand for people’s best wishes. They think the dragon roof ornaments could protect the house and the family.
