Chinese Gardens --- Lion Forest Garden

Lion Forest Garden is built in Yuan Dynasty, about AD 1342. It is one of the respective antique private garden building in the Han nationality. It is also one of Suzhou famous gardens. Its land plan is rectangle, its area is about 11,000 square meters. There are lots of bamboos in the gardens, while there are many bizarre rocks under the bamboos. The bizarre rocks like the lions, hence, this garden is called Lion Forest Garden.

The buildings in Lion Forest Garden divides into three parts, these are ancestral hall, residence and courtyard. The original entrance of the garden is Bei Family Name ancestral hall, which has Chinese traditional gable roof. And the roof is installed by Chinese grey clay roof tiles.

The typical building in residence area is Yanyu Hall. It is the main hall in the whole garden. The building is tall and big, and the furnishings inside is rich elegant. There are four small yards in the north of Yanyu Hall, which is called Spring Yard. And there are the small square pavilion in the yard, while is very convenient for people to enjoy the scenery in Spring Yard.
