Lingyin Temple

Lingyin Temple, also known as Yunlin Temple, is located in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is backed by the North Peak and faces Feilai Peak. It was built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the first year of Xianhe (326 years). It covers an area of about 87,000 square meters. The founder of Lingyin Temple is the Buddhist monk of West India. Emperor Liang Wu of the Southern Dynasties gave the field and expanded it. In the Five Dynasties, Wu Yue Wang Qian’s ordered the master of Yongming Yanshou to re-explore the temple and gave it the name of Lingyin New Temple.

Lingyin Temple mainly consists of Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, Pharmacist Hall, Fatang and Huayan Hall on the central axis, with five hundred Luohantang, Jigong Hall, Huayan Pavilion, Dabeilou and Fangzhanglou on the two sides. The current abbot is Master Guangquan.

Lingyin Temple was re-built on the basis of reconstruction on the late Qing Dynasty. The temple covers an area of about 87,000 square meters, and the total area of Lingyin Scenic Area is about 2577,000 square meters. The layout of Lingyin Temple is similar to that of Jiangnan Temple with wooden structure and clay roof tiles. The central axis of the temple is the three halls of Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall and Pharmacist Hall.
